2014 Shindig Red

Shindig Red is fresh, classic, and a showcase of how well both vinifera and French-American hybird grapes can play together. Corot Noir, a new-generation hybrid, has a bouquet like Merlot and a naturally appealing acidity. It also delivers beautiful color and cherry fruit. A touch of Malbec lends a mysterious darker note, bringing a little backbone to the overall blend. There is no residual sugar in the wine, allowing it to be classical while showing off its fruitiness.

Varietals

55% Merlot, 40% Corot Noir, 5% Malbec

Region

New York State, NY

Process

Shindig Red was born to be a juicy, fruit-forward red wine to drink in its youth. Both Merlot and Corot Noir were first fermented in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation, with French oak staves placed in-tank to enhance color and structure of the wine. The final blend saw an addition of Malbec for some darker fruit notes.

Pairing Notes

Shindig Red is made to be a food-loving red, versatile across cuisines.Try it as an aperitif, or allow it to chill in the refrigerator for a summer sipper.Matche with grilled tuna, Italian or Mediterranean cuisine, burgers, BBQ,or firm and aged cheeses.
