2014 Shindig White

2014 Shindig White

Shindig over-delivers as an ideal, clean, zippy, fresh white with balanced fruit. There are flavors of citrus, green apple, stone fruit, lemon zest, a little slate, ginger, and a touch of sweetness mingles with refreshing minerality on the finish. With a high acidity level and tropical notes, this wine is reminiscent of a very crisp Sauvignon Blanc, or a mineral driven Gruner Veltliner. The Finger Lakes shines on this wine expressing the crisp, clean fruit and mineral notes indicative of the terroir. 2013 Broken Land

BOE’s “Broken Land” (which is the English translation of ‘Breukelen,' the original Dutch name of the borough) is a distinctive wine made in a classic Italian/Slovenian style. On-skin maceration of the fermenting wine imparts a deep golden color and mesmerizing flavors. This wine offers an unexpected experience, with a heady palate of orange zest, nuts, lychee, apricot pit, rose, and jasmine tea, all changing in the glass as you drink it. Its complex structure and earthy tannins benefit from decanting and a temperature slightly warmer than normal for a standard white. Varietals 52%  Continue Reading …

2014 Cabernet Franc

With a purplish-red hue, our Cabernet Franc is both sophisticated and rustic. The bouquet flaunts  fresh raspberry jam, tart cherry, cranberry, fennel, allspice, nutmeg, and espresso. Its palate is lively on the tongue, making it an excellent wine for pairing with a meal. Soft tannins meld with a medium body and a lingering pomegranate and raspberry seed finish. Varietals 89% Cabernet Franc (single vineyard) and 11% Merlot (single vineyard) Region North Fork of Long Island, NY Process The grapes were fermented partly in stainless steel tanks, and partly in an egg-shaped tank to promote  Continue Reading …

2010 BOE Motley Cru

This silky, velvety red exhibits a savory nose with hints of olive, and continues to a core of juicy, cherry fruit and spice on the palate. Round and soft with great acidity and fine tannins, it is very much a Rhone-like wine, with a medium body and the texture of a robust Pinot Noir. Petit Verdot provides a robust structure, an inky purple color, and powerful blackberry and black pepper notes, forming the foundation for this complex wine. Cabernet Sauvignon lends red-fruited body, Syrah provides finessed spice, and Merlot rounds and softens the palate. Truly a New York “cult” wine,  Continue Reading …

2011 Chardonnay

Crafted in a Burgundian method, this golden-hued Chardonnay exhibits a subtle creaminess matched with great acidity and structure. Our sixth vintage release of this style of Chardonnay results in an exciting fusion of baked apple, dried pineapple, quince, and coconut with layered vanilla and hints of smoke and honey. Old-world touches of mineral, walnut, and bright acidity balance the richness. It matures well in the cellar!

2012 Merlot

This dimensional, focused Merlot is an inky, deep red, spotlighted by loads of black cherry and blackberry, currant liqueur, anise, pepper, leathery spice, tobacco, and coffee. Petit Verdot contributes to its bold structure and body, but the wine is not overly weighty. It is also quite age worthy and capable of cellaring.

2012 Social Club Red

Like its sibling Social Club White, BOE’s Social Club Red is a medium-bodied everyday, go-to red blended in the style of a Bordeaux grand vin. An intense, earthy nose of spices, bark, pepper, and chocolate is confirmed on the palate, with additional flavors of dried cherries, blackberries, pomegranate, and soil. Our 2012 vintage is medium-bodied with a velvety mouth feel. It’s an easy drinking style that will warm you up!

2013 Pinot Gris

BOE’s Pinot Gris leans into the Alsatian style, as communicated by calling it Gris rather than Grigio. Full-bodied and driven by stone fruits, melon, blossom, and baking spices, our Pinot Gris is golden in color and rich on the palate. It is not at all the citrus-flavor-water that is sadly exported to the U.S. This is Pinot Gris the way it was meant to be! Food-friendly acidity, with notes of Bosc pear, key lime, plantain, cantaloupe, almonds, and cinnamon. It finishes with honeysuckle and lingering zest.

2014 ‘Friend’ Riesling

A supremely refreshing, deliciously complex white, BOE’s ‘Friend’ Riesling has brought many people back to an off-dry style of Riesling. Residual sugars add wonderful richness perfectly balanced by crisp fruit and a mineral driven finish. An abundance of Macintosh and Golden Delicious apples are surrounded by Asian pear, white peach, nectarine, jasmine, and a hint of petrol, with a crisp, clean finish of citrus, slate and honey.

2014 Viognier

After years of missing one of our favorite wines in the lineup, BOE’s Viognier is BACK!  Our version is beautifully unusual, because of the cooler climate in which it’s grown than is typical for this grape.  It’s full of ripe melons, nectarines, passionfruit, white flowers, lime, grapefruit, stoniness, and chamomile,  instead of being oily and almost syrupy like many of its hot-weather cousins. Our wine also has an acidity to hold up this Viognier straight, which not only makes it a great food wine, but will also enable it to mature into elegance. Just ask any of our lucky customers about how  Continue Reading …

A touch of Malbec lends a mysterious darker note, bringing a little backbone to the overall blend.
